When to have your patio cleaned entirely depends on the reasoning behind cleaning the patio. For example, Pressure Washing Exeter have customers who have their patios cleaned at the start of every year to ensure its clean all year round. Some customers need their patio cleaned towards the end of the season for reasons such as wanting to improve the properties’ look before listing it for sale. Others opt for as and when, whenever it needs cleaning.   

Typically, our busiest patio cleaning months are March, June and October – all for different reasons. People have their patio cleaned in March so that it’s clean for the year. Others get their patio cleaned in June once the sun has come out – they’ve gone out onto their patio and realised it’s all dirty and nasty and that it would be nice to have it cleaned. Pressure washing can cause damage when too high pressure is used – this is typically due to a lack of experience from the operator or inadequate training.   

Different pressures must be used for different surfaces to ensure a safe yet effective clean. Too high and damage may be caused, too low and the surface won’t be cleaned. Surfaces such as render may only withstand low pressure, whereas a driveway made from concrete can withstand significantly higher pressure. For this reason, soft washing is typically used for render cleaning which utilises low pressure cleaning.   

Too high pressure on joints/pointing can cause them to break and blow. We reduce the chance of this happening by not only adjusting the pressure for the surface and condition of the surface but also use a flat surface cleaner where possible which distributes the pressure more evenly – a flat surface cleaner also yields a more thorough and uniform clean.

Absolutely! We pressure wash block paving on a daily basis. When done correctly it is perfectly safe to pressure wash block paving. The fears/questions come from sinking block paving, which can happen if done incorrectly.  

Block paving is laid upon a bed of sand with kiln dried sand between the blocks. It is this base layer of sand as well as the sand between the blocks which stabilises the driveway. When this sand between the blocks is removed during pressure washing, it must be replaced. Failure to replace this sand can result in both sinkage as well as extreme weed growth. Additionally, if pressure washing is done too intently, for instance blasting one exact spot for too long, the deeper sand below the blocks can be removed, this can also cause issues.

We can!  With a 1000L water bowser on board, we are more than equip to supply water where needed when there is no on-site water supply. This is especially useful when cleaning building sites with no water supplies or simply properties that don’t have outside taps.  

Should we need more than 1000L we also have towable bowsers which we bring – however, 1000L is sufficient for most size jobs.
